Statement Supporting Three Meem Volunteers
The Three Meem Foundation is an independent, non-party-political charity.
Cllr Waseem Hassan is one of hundreds of volunteers and supporters who engage with and contribute to Three Meem’s services. Our engagement is open to people from many professions and backgrounds. It is therefore unreasonable and misleading to suggest that his connection—like the connection of any teacher, nurse, business owner, civil servant, or community volunteer—creates impropriety.
To be absolutely clear: Cllr Hassan is not a trustee and does not sit on our Board. He has no governance responsibilities and no decision making role within Three Meem. He is not involved in day-to-day management, project delivery, procurement, funding decisions, or organisational approvals.
Any support he provides is voluntary and informal, limited to community cohesion, stakeholder engagement, and introductions that help connect local groups for positive social outcomes.
Trafford Council decisions follow formal, transparent procedures, and councillors are required to declare any relevant interests and step back where appropriate. Cllr
Hassan has correctly declared his membership of Three Meem Foundation on his publicaly accessible ‘Register of Interests’.
Our decisions are made through our trustee governance structure, with clear accountability. We publish relevant, non-confidential updates—such as service developments—through our official channels as appropriate. What we will not accept is the attempt to undermine legitimate community work through insinuation presented as fact. The Three Meem Foundation operates lawfully, transparently, and in the public interest.
