The event featured Professor Terry O’Neil, a consultant rheumatologist, as the main speaker. He provided a comprehensive overview of osteoporosis, discussing its primary features, risk factors, diagnosis, and management. Professor O’Neil emphasized the crucial role of Vitamin D and exercise in maintaining bone health and highlighted preventive measures to reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
Rehana Ismail, Lead Volunteer Advocate for the Royal Osteoporosis Society, shared her personal journey with osteoporosis, discussing the challenges she faced, the importance of support networks, and how the Royal Osteoporosis Society played a vital role in her learning process. Her insights helped dispel common myths about osteoporosis, making the condition more understandable and relatable. She also distributed informational leaflets to the audience, which proved valuable for further understanding.
The event included a lively Q&A session, during which Professor O’Neil addressed a range of questions from the attendees, deepening their understanding of the topic.
