Basic Life Support

  • Health and Wellbeing

Three Meem Foundation recently organized a Basic Life Support (BLS) training course in collaboration with the British Islamic Medical Association, aiming to equip community members with essential life-saving skills. Open to both men and women, the session was led by Dr Osman Uddin and his dedicated team, who brought a wealth of experience and expertise to the course. The training was designed to be accessible to all, ensuring that participants of varying experience levels could gain a solid understanding of BLS fundamentals. During the first half, participants attended an informative presentation that covered the essential concepts and steps involved in basic life support, focusing on skills like chest compressions, rescue breathing, and recognizing signs of a cardiac emergency.

The latter half of the course transitioned to hands-on practice, allowing the nearly 30 attendees to engage directly with the material under the guidance of instructors. Participants, both men and women, had the opportunity to practice BLS techniques in a controlled environment, where they could receive personalized feedback and improve their technique. The collaborative atmosphere fostered both confidence and competence, with many expressing a newfound sense of preparedness to assist in emergencies. By the end of the session, attendees left with not only practical skills but also an enhanced sense of community readiness for handling life-threatening situations.
