Since its establishment, the Three Meem Foundation has been committed to the “Youth Development” programme. Our initiatives are systematically arranged around essential pillars that enhance this programme. We’ve consistently made strides, building on our successes over the years and maintaining the momentum in our youth development roadmap. The importance of youth development in the UK cannot be overstated, as it has garnered the attention of policymakers, educators, and community leaders who appreciate the tremendous potential and value of the younger generation.

Three Meem Foundation aims to tap into and cultivate this potential, aiding UK youth in personal development, resilience building, and active engagement in creating a dynamic and inclusive society. We have launched many initiatives to empower the young generation in various life areas, including personal development, education, and career advancement.

Through encouraging active engagement in community events, sports, arts, and voluntary work, Three Meem strives to instil essential traits such as leadership, teamwork, and empathy among its young participants. This well-rounded approach to youth development reflects our conviction that investments in youth enhance individual growth and contribute to the nation’s long-term prosperity and progress.

Taking on the challenge of reversing the trend of BAME youth underachievement, Three Meem has made education a key area of focus. Our initiatives are wide-ranging, multi-faceted, need-based, and structured to maximise youth potential. Regularly organised activities include career guidance, interview skills training, Speakers club, and linguistic and writing skills enhancement. We have partnered with university academics to provide students with more guidance on making informed career decisions. We provide opportunities for volunteering and extra skills required for the DoE course.

We didn’t want to halt at that; we also aimed to confront and address the challenges our youth face today. Three Meem encourages youth to engage in voluntary work and community projects. Our programmes cater to different age groups, offering physical and mental stimulation opportunities, thus helping shape well-rounded and respected individuals.

Three Meem Speakers Club

Effective communication, encompassing speaking, listening, and comprehension, is vital in all life aspects, social or academic. Its significance remains to be appreciated even in today’s digital era. Enhancing communication abilities can pave the way for career advancement and elevate one’s professional stature.

The Three Meem Speakers Club was established in 2019 to offer unparalleled opportunities and a top-tier learning environment for young individuals aged 12 to 18. This initiative aims to foster exceptional academic achievements. But more than that, it envisions nurturing these youngsters into self-assured individuals who can become the inspirational leaders of tomorrow.

Over its tenure, the club has successfully rolled out three courses, each spanning 8 to 12 sessions. The focus of these courses is dual-fold: to hone public speaking talents and to amass a range of linguistic proficiencies. Participants have consistently reported notable boosts in self-esteem and increased mastery of the English language.

We partnered with the Association of Speakers Club (ASC) to continually enrich the club’s offerings. They promptly contributed a trove of expertise and resources. This collaboration involved four adept and affable ASC tutors: Gwyneth Millard, Anne Bouget, Mary Christie, and Gay Rhodes. Their exemplary teaching methods were displayed prominently at the speech presentation event on 13th November 2021.

Our latest initiative last year introduced a new team of seasoned professionals, helmed by Mr Imtiaz Jamil, adopting the Oracy Cambridge Skills format. This 9-week program culminated in a grand speech competition on 1st December. The judging panel, comprising Sadia Jaffery, Dr M Chunggaze, and Noman Mohammad, had the pleasure of witnessing 25 participants, segmented into three age brackets (12-13, 14-15, and 16-18 years), showcase their eloquence and public speaking prowess. The top honours were clinched by Tahmeed Rasul (12-13 years), Maheen Atif (14-15 years), and Sundus Hanoun (16-18 years).

Creative Writing Skills

Three Meem Foundation has released the “Hamara Heritage Anthology.” Entirely crafted by remarkably gifted young authors, this book is a testament to Three Meem’s steadfast dedication to its central vision: encouraging youth involvement in extracurricular activities.

The inspiration for this book stemmed from a session on Culture & Heritage at a speaker’s club. The session aimed at aiding young speakers in delving deep into the roots of their own identities, traditions, and histories.

The art of creative writing not only facilitates expressive engagement but also empowers individuals with the confidence to articulate thoughts lucidly and profoundly. This anthology embodies these attributes, offering readers an engaging experience enhanced by vivid photographs, illuminating the young authors’ cultural insights and experiences. The exploration of identity in this anthology makes it a heartfelt, reflective, and utterly captivating read. The deep reverence for heritage that the book encapsulates is genuinely moving.

Our heartfelt applause goes to the 12 diligent authors whose commitment and passion have been the backbone of this project. Their inspiration has motivated Three Meem to foster similar initiatives for the community in the future.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the editors who have dedicated their time and expertise to craft the contributions into a masterpiece, aptly mirroring the talent of our young authors.

The e-book is now accessible for free (keeping in mind the copyright considerations) and is generously shared by the authors. You can read it by clicking the link below: https://mixam.co.uk/share/607ecda847ff6f77dc288207

Medical and Dentistry Interview course

Securing a spot in Medicine and Dentistry programs often requires candidates to navigate rigorous and demanding interview processes. These are among the most challenging admissions interviews one might encounter. However, with thorough preparation, candidates can significantly enhance their chances of success. Proper preparation fosters confidence and ensures that candidates present themselves professionally and articulately during the interview.

Three Meem Foundation organised an interview preparation course tailored for Medicine and Dentistry. This dynamic course spanned six weeks, with each session lasting two hours, and was facilitated by medical students. The curriculum encompassed diverse aspects such as understanding one’s motivation for pursuing Medicine, insights on volunteering and skill-building, discussions on current hot topics and the General Medical Council (GMC), an in-depth exploration of medical ethics, a masterclass in role-playing and practice with multiple mini interviews.

The feedback from the participants was overwhelmingly positive. Three Meem extends its warm appreciation to all attendees and thanks the Medology team for their unwavering commitment and effort.  Watch the space for the next concise one-day course.

Youth Volunteer Work

Three Meem has established an initiative to empower school students through voluntary work opportunities. Recognising the diverse commitments and timelines that students may have, especially when they’re participating in structured award schemes, the platform offers a degree of flexibility to ensure that volunteers can meet their respective milestones. A notable accomplishment of this initiative is the inclusion of individuals who have successfully contributed their voluntary hours to prestigious accolades, such as the Duke of Edinburgh award. This showcases the potential and dedication of our youth volunteers and underscores the credibility and value of the opportunities Three Meem provides. For those eager to make a difference and gain valuable experience, registering for our volunteer program is made easy through a dedicated link. Students can enrich their personal and academic portfolios and contribute positively to the community by participating.

Urdu Language Classes Success

Three Meem Foundation has offered Urdu language classes for the last three years. The dedication and commitment of our students have been nothing short of remarkable. Every single one of them managed to secure impressive results.

Following the success of our Urdu classes, we’re taking a significant step forward. We are currently in the process of registering as an official examination centre. This move emphasises our commitment to fostering the study of the Urdu language. It ensures that we provide our students with all the necessary facilities and opportunities to excel academically.

English Linguistic course

The Covid-19 pandemic has had numerous known consequences, but one less-discussed effect is the decline in high school literacy rates. This issue, already pressing in the UK, has reached a critical level due to the pandemic. To address this, Three Meem collaborated with a seasoned English Teacher, a GCSE tutor, and a Literacy Coordinator from a Secondary school to establish a programme for young people to sharpen their literacy abilities.

This curriculum involved exploring books identified as must-reads for ambitious young individuals. Spanning seven sessions, participants delved into the acclaimed book on persuasive techniques, “Influence” by Robert Cialdini. With guidance from our literacy specialist, students learned to distil critical points from intricate content and relay intricate thoughts to their fellow students. They read, discussed, and showcased their insights to the group each week. True literacy encompasses not just reading but also comprehending and articulating that comprehension. This literacy initiative was met with great enthusiasm, with an overwhelming interest in upcoming sessions. I was particularly struck by the eagerness of the students and their courage in presenting – a skill that will benefit them in their educational and career trajectories.

I strongly encourage everyone in our community to embrace reading. Notably, esteemed universities often prioritise applicants with solid literacy skills. Couple this with the profound positive effects of consistent reading on mental well-being, intelligence, and general knowledge, and reading becomes non-negotiable.

GCSE Maths Refresher Course

Three Meem Foundation had started an 8-week refresher course for GCSE maths to assist students in achieving their best grades. Dr Abdul Farhat taught his students in a very visual and interactive manner. His methods helped to clarify the concepts and understanding of Mathematics. Weekly 90-minute sessions were held at Coppice Library. Dr Abdul Farhat had taught his students using visual aids and through a level of interaction suited to enhanced learning. This helped me develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. These sessions were held weekly for 90 minutes at the Coppice Library.
